Avient Launches Halogen-Free Flame-Retardant TPE Grades made with sustainable raw materials for USB-C Cable Jackets.
These new grades have been developed to meet the growing demand for consumer electronic applications made with sustainable raw materials and meet strict FR compliance without compromising performance or processability, like USB-C connector cable jackets.

Expanding these grades also facilitates Asia’s end-of-life vehicle (ELV) recycling and regulatory requirements.
They also can pass comprehensive xenon and environmental aging tests and show no visual defects, deformation, or stickiness after short-term (6 hours at 100°C) and long-term (500 hours at 90°C) thermal aging.
Developed for injection molding, Avient’s new grades for PP overmolding can deliver durable primeless bonding performance and are available in natural and custom-colored grades with hardnesses from Shore 40A to 80A.

PP carrier is not recommended for softer grades, as the formulation hardness will be affected.
If using a specialty overmolding grade, follow the coloring recommendations given on the individual product Technical Data Sheet.
Harder grades (> 50 Shore A) will set up faster in the mold compared to very soft grades (< 20 Shore A).
