PolyOne supported the design and production engineers at Sylumis with thermal simulation and mold filling analysis to help the manufacturer optimize the geometry, heat transfer and manufacturability of the heat sinks. The Therma-Tech conductive formulation selected for these LED lamps outperforms aluminum, the material traditionally used in heat sinks, with a 25% increase in heat exchange surface area and a 9% reduction in weight.

The new materials have been pre-tested for compliance with the United States FDA requirements under 21 CFR 177.2600 for repeated-use applications and the European standard 10/2011 for food contact.
