FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Avient Announces Third Quarter 2022 Results
• Completed the acquisition of DSM Protective Materials (including Dyneema®) on
September 1st and the sale of the Distribution business on November 1st
• $750 million of after-tax proceeds from the sale of Distribution used to redeem all Senior
Unsecured Notes due in 2023 and pay down a portion of term loan debt
• GAAP EPS from continuing operations of ($0.30) includes special items of ($0.75)
primarily associated with acquisition-related costs and an adjustment to environmental
reserves
• Adjusted EPS excluding intangible amortization of $0.59 is in line with the company’s
guidance of $0.58 provided on September 27th
• Revised full year adjusted EPS guidance to $2.60 primarily as a result of recently
announced COVID lockdowns
CLEVELAND – November 2, 2022 – Avient Corporation (NYSE: AVNT), a leading provider of
specialized and sustainable solutions, today announced its third quarter 2022 results.
Special items for the
third quarter of 2022 had an ($0.75) impact on EPS and included acquisition-related costs that
primarily consist of financing commitment fees, inventory step-up adjustments and settlement of
foreign currency contracts used to hedge a portion of the DSM Protective Materials (now Avient
Protective Materials or APM) acquisition purchase price.
Examples include:
• Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™, enables unmatched levels of performance and
protection for end-use applications, including ballistic personal protection, marine and
sustainable infrastructure and outdoor sports
• Unique technologies that improve the recyclability of products and enable recycled content
to be incorporated, thus advancing a more circular economy
• Light-weighting solutions that replace heavier traditional materials like metal, glass and
wood, which can improve fuel efficiency in all modes of transportation and reduce carbon
footprint
• Sustainable infrastructure solutions that increase energy efficiency, renewable energy,
natural resource conservation and fiber optic / 5G network accessibility
Avient is certified ACC Responsible Care®, a founding member of the Alliance to End Plastic
Waste and certified Great Place to Work®.
