Examples of how our materials science is enabling sustainability for our customers include developing unique technologies that improve the recyclability of products and allow recycled content to be incorporated in products, thus advancing a more circular economy; light-weighting solutions that replace heavier traditional materials like metal, glass and wood, which can improve fuel efficiency in all modes of transportation and reduce carbon footprint; and sustainable infrastructure solutions that increase energy efficiency, renewable energy, natural resource conservation and fiber optic / 5G network accessibility. Of growing importance is our portfolio of additives that enable our customers to achieve their sustainability goals, regarding improved recyclability, reduced energy use, light weighting, and renewable energy applications.

These included headwinds from hydrocarbon based raw material deflation that reduced revenue by nearly $150 million and compressed margins, primarily within our PolyOne Distribution (POD) and Performance Products and Solutions (PP&S) segments. These associates led to an almost immediate impact in POD and PP&S, where sales cycles are often the shortest within the company. Performance Products & Solutions (PP&S) also achieved a record return on sales of 9.0%. In addition, PP&S led the company in working capital efficiency at 4.6% of sales and did so while maintaining leading levels of customer service, as evidenced by a 96% on- time delivery rate, an all-time high.
