SHANGHAI – September 22, 2021 – Avient today unveiled its new optimized Versaflex™ CF6668 low build-up TPE for the tack layer of protective film.   Protective film co-extruded with Versaflex CF6668 TPE answers this market need. Versaflex CF6668 formulation is currently manufactured in Asia and is available for purchase globally. 

Results showed Versaflex™ XP shock absorbing TPEs absorbed up to 10 percent more impact than TPU at drop heights of 4 – 8 feet, and over 25 percent more impact at 10 – 14 feet. In addition, the tests showed that a case made with Versaflex XP TPE dropped from 14 feet performs nearly the same as a TPU case dropped from 10 feet. – February 3, 2020 – At Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) West next week, PolyOne will launch its newest medical grade, Versaflex™ HC BT218, formulated in response to supply challenges stemming from silicone shortages and sterilization facility closures. In response, PolyOne formulated Versaflex™ HC BT218 TPE for biopharmaceutical tubing applications. Versaflex HC BT218 adds to PolyOne’s broader portfolio of specialty engineered polymers for healthcare that meet stringent regulatory demands and are suitable for alternative sterilization methods, including gamma and autoclave.

Versaflex™ HC TPE is formulated to produce low coring levels in resealing applications. With Versaflex HC, on the other hand, injection molding happens in seconds, and does not require curing or washing, thus saving significant time and reducing cost. Versaflex HC grades give customers confidence that the materials will comply with regulatory requirements.

Available in two Shore A hardnesses, Versaflex HC grades can also be customized to achieve desired haptic qualities. Customers have reported that devices made with Versaflex HC TPEs successfully withstood 10,000 antiseptic wipes. With a Shore A hardness of 48, Versaflex HC 1348 is slightly softer than Versaflex HC 1365, which has a durometer of 65A and a matte finish.
