GLS™ TPE
PACKAGING SOLUTIONS
CHEMICAL RESISTANT
SOLUTIONS FOR COSMETIC,
PERSONAL CARE AND
HOUSEHOLD PACKAGING
We’ve developed a line of chemical resistant thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) that do not discolor, etch, crack or
delaminate.
What’s more, they are FDA and REACH compliant and resist those chemicals particular to cosmetics,
personal care, and household products.
Differentiation – Add color and texture
to stand out from the competition
• Recyclable – TPEs are compatible with most
municipal recycle streams
• Global Support – Avient is a global supplier
with manufacturing and technical support in
Europe, Asia and North America

Its design
team determined the need for a soft-touch material
with strong chemical resistance and color stability for
the mouse grip.
A technical support team at Avient
GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers conducted extensive
compatibility testing to confirm proper bonding and
overmolding onto the rigid substrate.
It also boasts
excellent chemical resistance to common substances
like cosmetics and cleaners, as well as foods such as
olive oil and mustard.

WHY AVIENT?
https://www.avient.com/sites/default/files/2023-01/Disinfectant Resistant Trilliant and Versaflex HC Materials Program Bulletin_0.pdf
After three
days of exposure to the hospital disinfectants,
a 20x magnified image was taken of each set of bars
to demonstrate the effect of the chemical.
The problem is that most polymer device housings are not able to resist repeated exposure to the chemicals
involved in disinfection without cracking, crazing, or otherwise losing structural integrity.
Designed for two-
shot injection molding and formulated for the
appropriate substrate, these medical-grade TPEs
are compatible with rigid PVC, copolyesters, all
PC alloys, ABS, TPUs and PEI substrates.
https://www.avient.com/sites/default/files/2023-06/EZR Gun Grip Case Study.pdf
These materials
can also deteriorate with ultraviolet (UV) and chemical
exposure from sunlight and cleaning.
EZR Sport wanted a flexible foam grip that could be
chemically resistant to gun oil and diethyltoluamide
or DEET (the most common active chemical ingredient
in insect repellents), UV resistant for longer-lasting
aesthetics, and compliant with California’s Proposition
65 law (requiring businesses to provide warnings to
Californians about significant exposures to chemicals
that cause cancer, congenital disabilities or other
reproductive harm).
This technology also helps achieve
superior grip properties, improving haptics for a
better sense of touch and feel while remaining UV-
resistant, chemical resistant to DEET and oils, and
bio-compatible.
