Avient Debuts Next-Generation Solutions to Facilitate Use of Recycled Plastics in Packaging Applications
A first of its kind for the plastics industry, this internally developed solution also calculates how much PCR content can be added to an existing application without affecting its signature color.
Avient employs approximately 8,700 associates and is certified ACC Responsible Care®, a founding member of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste and certified Great Place to Work®.

Microbe growth on plastic can deteriorate performance and also lead to undesirable staining and odor issues.
As such, there’s a trend to reduce microbial populations on high-touch surfaces via the use of antimicrobials to protect material aesthetics and durability or to prevent the spread of pathogenic microorganisms.
To better evaluate how to protect plastic parts from microbial attack, Avient conducted a study to screen a variety of plastic substrates for susceptibility using American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) G21 (fungi susceptibility), Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) Z2801, and modified ASTM E1428-15a (bacterial susceptibility) test standards.

CLEVELAND – September 21, 2020 – Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, today announced it is collaborating with the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (the Alliance) to lessen the impact of litter on the environment.
About the Alliance to End Plastic Waste
The Alliance to End Plastic Waste is an international nonprofit organization partnering with government, environmental and economic development NGOs and communities around the world to address the challenge to end plastic waste in the environment.
Examples include:
• Barrier technologies that preserve the shelf-life and quality of food, beverages, medicine and other perishable goods through high-performance materials that require less plastic
• Light-weighting solutions that replace heavier traditional materials like metal, glass and wood, which can improve fuel efficiency in all modes of transportation
• Breakthrough technologies that minimize wastewater and improve the recyclability of materials and packaging across a spectrum of end uses
