Fiber-Line™ Specialty Engineered Thermoplastic Tapes
PRODUCT BULLETIN
Fiber-Line™ Specialty Engineered Thermoplastic
Tapes are composite formulations composed of a
wide range of fibers that are uniquely engineered to
enhance fiber and composite tape performance—
such as twisting and coating—and subsequently
custom manufactured into a tape cured with a
thermoplastic resin.
Providing strength
and reinforcement, Fiber-Line tapes can be
custom-formulated to meet mechanical or thermal
performance requirements.
This literature shall NOT operate as permission, recommendation, or inducement to practice any patented invention without permission of the patent owner.

compression molded due to its extremely thin nature
• Copper resistance
• Light weight
• Anti-static
• Low VOC
• Worked in close collaboration with the customer to
understand key design challenges and needs
• Streamlined the development process through global
presence, working locally in Europe while also running
trials in Asia
• Re-designed the part to provide a 90% weight
reduction
• Utilized material science expertise to create a custom
formulation that improved resistance to copper
deposits and enabled injection compression molding

When Avient proposed re-engineering the yoke with an
alternative composite material, Bettcher was receptive,
but needed evidence that a polymer solution would
retain the reliable performance its customers demanded.
Because of the collaborative engineering
with Avient, we were able to confidently transition to the
long fiber technology and ultimately deliver a high-end,
innovative product to our customers.”

Further,
the team developed a custom colorant that matched
the automaker’s interior color specs, and then
developed the final product so that the armrest could
be molded in color.
Given industry-specific cost structures for niche vehicle
door production, this improvement can be estimated to
save the customer approximately $100,000 annually.
