In addition to these high-performance
characteristics, this healthcare portfolio offers a
reduced carbon footprint over the product life cycle
because PK production emits up to 61 percent less
carbon dioxide (CO2) than nylon.

Helping to improve sustainability over the end-
product lifecycle, Complēt PKE formulations offer
a reduced carbon footprint as a result of the base
resin.
Producing polyketone results in 61% less
carbon dioxide (CO2) than PA66 and 46% less
than PA6.

Carbon Fiber Underbody Braces Make Corvette Driving Experience Even More Exhilarating
The Glasforms business unit formulated a carbon-fiber-reinforced composite material for the C7 Corvette Z06 and non-Z06 underbody braces.
The carbon fiber-reinforced composite part was 17% lighter than the stock aluminum part, and the composite held up well in GM's extensive vibration, shake and road test regimen.

Based on the raw materials used and manufacturing practices, these materials have a different product carbon footprint (PCF).
LSR will generally withstand high levels of exposure to cleaning and disinfecting chemicals, but is susceptible to attacks by concentrated solvents (gasoline, mineral spirits) and acids (sulfuric acid, carbonic acid, citric acid found in car batteries, sodas and juices).¹

While PK and PA are both semi-
crystalline and contain an abundance of carbon and
oxygen, polyketone lacks the nitrogen present in
the amide bond of the nylon backbone.
In addition, PK can improve the sustainability of a
product through a lower carbon footprint because
the production of the resin emits up to 61 percent
less carbon dioxide (CO₂) than nylon.
