It’s integral to design as artists respond to shifts – in the economy, in politics, and especially in culture.
Color Inspirations 2019+ examines the once and future progression of art and design.
Artists and designers experiment with different materials to create “handmade” craft impression.

The use of 2K
(two-component) molding—in which the base resin is injected
and allowed to set up for a short time, and then is overmolded
by injecting the TPE—streamlines the manufacturing process.
It required a high temperature
and a strong injection pressure to bond to the acrylonitrile-
butadienestyrene (ABS) substrate, which caused the resin
to deform.
High-end product line = competitive advantage:
With Avient’s OnFlex-S TPE, developers successfully
designed and produced a new, high-end product line that
compares favorably with all-plastic sprayers in terms of
appearance, performance and durability

• Similar mechanical properties to aluminum and stainless
steel
• Improved impact resistance, durability, and vibration
damping properties
• Injection moldable
• Enabled up to 20% more impact resistance compared to standard
long fiber reinforced materials, including the incumbent material
• Improved durability and vibration damping allowing the blades to
flex and absorb energy from minor impacts
• Facilitated an interchangeable blade system providing a cost-
effective solution for repairs and tuning of propulsion thrust to meet
a boat’s intended use, for either speed or transporting loads
• Enhanced design flexibility allowing for the innovative blade design
to provide 400% more reverse thrust than standard propellers and
twice as much as competing metal propellers

What if you could design the needed performance characteristics
right into the housing rather than using conductive painting or vacuum metallization?
Injection-moldable
Stat-Tech™ offers the necessary shielding performance and boosts design freedom, so that more components
can be housed together without cross talk.
Design freedom – Stat-Tech material is injection
moldable, enabling function integration and thin
wall housing construction, without compromising
dimensional stability.

WHY AVIENT?
https://www.avient.com/sites/default/files/2020-08/maxxam-polyolefins-formualtions-case-study.pdf
HVAC doors are typically produced by injection molding
two parts that provide structural strength and air
sealing performance.
However, in this case, designers
had reduced the thickness of the part wall significantly
to achieve a relative weight saving of 90 percent.
Avient engineered a new customized formulation for the
part, which provided both the processability required
for extremely short cycle injection-compression
molding, as well as including an additive to stabilize
the material when in contact with copper.

Injection
molding the closure from this material, called
Gravi-Tech™, would provide the look, feel and sound
of metal and maintain a premium perception.
Switching from metal forming to injection molding
would also enable processing cost savings and
expanded design freedom.
