Homepage // News Center // PolyOne Launches Moisture-Cured ECCOH™ XLS for Non-Halogen Wire & Cable Applications CLEVELAND – PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL), a premier global provider of specialized polymer materials, services and solutions, today announced the launch of ECCOH™ XLS low smoke and fume, non-halogen formulation for flame retardant wire and cable applications. ECCOH XLS enables manufacturers to efficiently process a non-halogenated, flame-retardant material without capital investment in extra equipment or adding steps to complete crosslinking.

These new orange colorants, developed as part of Avient’s OnColor portfolio, can help improve the heat and long-term color stability of cautionary, orange-colored polymers in both engineering and general-purpose plastics with no or limited adverse effects on mechanical properties or flame retardancy and can also be customized for laser marking (link to full press release here).   Syncure™ XLPE Cross-linkable Polyethylene Formulations: a range of silane-grafted, moisture cross-linkable polyethylene (XLPE) systems for wire insulation and cable jacketing, delivering high resistance to heat, oil, creep, and abrasion with good low-temperature performance and outstanding flame retardancy according to UL 44, UL 4703 and CSA 22.2 requirements Bergamid™ FR Non-Halogen Flame Retardant Formulations: developed for high-voltage connectors, designed to combine the application flexibility of high-flow nylons for thin-wall designs with the sustainable performance of a non-halogenated fire retardant system, available in unfilled or reinforced PA6, PA66 and PA 6/66 grades with UL 94 V0 and CTI 800+ ratings

PolyOne’s ECCOH™ low-smoke and fume, non-halogen flame-retardant material for wire and cable enabled Keystone to quickly manufacture and deliver medium- and low-voltage power cables that complied with safety, performance, reliability and environmental requirements. PolyOne’s low-smoke, non-halogenated ECCOH material met strict specifications for mechanical properties, and successfully passed testing for flame and smoke resistance. PolyOne‘s ECCOH material met Keystone’s requirements for excellent electrical and mechanical properties, long-term aging reliability, flame retardance to improve safety in the event of fire (IEC-60332-24), and a non-halogen formulation to meet environmental standards (IEC-60574).
