CLEVELAND – May 5, 2021 – Avient today announced the launch of ColorMatrix™ Amosorb™ 4020R, a non-nylon-containing oxygen scavenger additive specifically formulated to enable the use of up to 100 percent recycled PET (rPET) content. This new additive joins the robust portfolio of ColorMatrix additives that enable improved recycling for plastic packaging. In addition, the additive is compatible with many different rPET grades to help brand owners achieve their sustainability targets.

CLEVELAND – July 26, 2021 – Avient today announced the addition of PREPERM™ low-loss dielectric thermoplastics to its growing portfolio of materials serving the needs of emerging 5G applications.  The devices, in turn, rely on materials that limit signal loss at high-band 5G frequencies (mmWave). These polymers, together with Avient’s application design and prototyping services, allow for faster prototyping and shorter lead times compared to ceramics traditionally used in telecom applications.

THE CHALLENGE A leading North American manufacturer of polypropylene (PP) hose for medical applications, including laser surgery, respiratory care and sleep apnea equipment, faced a challenge with its existing thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV). The Avient team assessed the application’s technical and operational requirements, and recommended GLS Versalloy™ XL- 9045-1 alloy in 45 Shore A durometer, an FDA-compliant medical TPV grade designed for overmolding onto PP. THE IMPACT Avient’s expertise in materials for medical device applications helped this customer make a smooth transition to the GLS TPV.
