PolyOne to Begin Thermoplastic Elastomer Production in India
CLEVELAND – February 7, 2018 – PolyOne Corporation today announced it expects to begin production of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) this summer at its existing facility in Pune, India.
This investment at our facility in Pune answers customers’ desire for a domestic supplier able to offer expertise in color, engineered materials and thermoplastic elastomers,” said Craig Nikrant, president, Specialty Engineered Materials, PolyOne.

Abstract
Overmolding thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) onto rigid thermoplastics has been an explosive trend
in the last decade.
Figure 1 shows the surface
energy match of various thermoplastic elastomers with rigid thermoplastics.

Explore the critical performance advantages of composite sandwich panels
They are custom engineered to meet specific performance requirements: core thickness can be varied to change stiffness, core materials can be selected to achieve weight targets, fiber choice can modify stiffness-to-weight ratio, and the polymer matrix choice affects strength.

Our
offerings include specialty engineered materials, performance fibers, advanced composites,
and color and additive systems.
Depending on the material, our composite
and fiber solutions may run into challenges
in finding outlets for waste to divert from
landfill.
The plan includes a range of options,
including repurposing scrap composite
rods as fence posts, recycling of scrap
glass, and recycling of composite finished
goods.

Avient developed a new technology suite that uses specialty engineered polyketone (PK) thermoplastics and helps our customers meet their goals to lower the carbon footprint of their products versus traditional materials, like PA66 and PA6.
These reinforced grades are targeted at applications in the industrial, electronics and transportation markets like pipes and tubing, electrical battery components, and under-the-hood fuel or chemical contact components.

PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION
Thermoset composite springs from Avient are
engineered with proprietary vinyl ester or epoxy
resins and unidirectional fiber reinforcement
technologies.
Spring deflection limitations: The free movement or
deflection of springs must be limited so that it does not
overstress the composite.
